Downey Park Family Dentistry is excited to announce that our offices are reopen to serve our community. We are taking additional special measures to ensure the health and safety of our patients and team, and appreciate your understanding that things will look and function a bit differently in our office for the time being.
Fluoride treatments are a great way to strengthen your teeth and fight back against the earliest stages of tooth decay. This treatment consists of a layer of fluoride-rich varnish that is applied to your teeth, usually after your dental cleaning. The varnish will remain on your teeth for several hours for the best outcome.
Fluoride has the ability to help remineralize (strengthen) teeth that have been affected by minor decay or weakened by oral acid. With regular fluoride treatments, you can dramatically reduce your risk of developing cavities in the future.
If you are cavity-prone, dental sealants are a great way to eliminate the risk of cavities. They are usually applied only to your rear teeth because they have more fissures and cracks where bacteria can collect and form cavities.
Sealants consist of a thin layer of transparent dental resin, which is applied to your teeth in a liquid form. Then, it’s hardened with a UV light, creating a barrier that completely prevents oral bacteria, acid, and food particles from contacting your enamel. In turn, this stops the formation of cavities.
Coming in for cleanings and hygiene appointments every six months will decrease your likelihood of developing dental issues. These visits will give you peace of mind that your teeth are strong and healthy, and our team will be able to track your oral development over time.
Regularly checking in with Dr. Acree and visiting the team at Downey Park Family Dentistry ensures that we can keep an eye on your overall oral health and well-being, and avoid issues like gum disease and tooth decay. In the long run, this saves you both time and money.
Our hygiene team will clean and polish your teeth during your visits, so it is important to see us regularly. This helps prevent and reverse the buildup of stains and keeps your smile shiny, bright, and healthy.
