Is It Safe To See The Dentist During COVID-19?

At Downey Park Family Dental we realize that the COVID-19 outbreak may make coming to the dentist seem dangerous. But in reality, that’s not the case. Seeing your Modesto dentist is just as safe as it’s ever been!

At our practice, Dr. Corey Acree has implemented strict and rigorous procedures and made some changes to how we do things in order to protect both our patients and staff members. Read on to learn more about how we’re protecting you, and why it’s safe to see the team at Downey Park Family Dental for preventive dentistry during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Temperature Checks & Pre-Appointment Questionnaires

As part of your appointment at our office, we are requiring you to answer a series of questions about your potential exposure to COVID-19, any symptoms you’ve recently experienced, recent travel habits, and more.

We also will be taking your temperature using a touchless infrared thermometer “gun.” If your temperature is very high or abnormal, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment. These steps help ensure that we only treat patients who are free of COVID symptoms at our office.

Social Distancing At Our Office

We ask that you come alone to your appointment, unless you require assistance getting into and out of our office. This helps reduce the number of people in our office and waiting area at any given time.

In addition, we have reconfigured our waiting area and added floor decals to help with proper spacing and social distancing at Downey Park Family Dental. We also have removed all magazines, pamphlets, and other items that are frequently-touched and hard to clean.

PPE For All Team Members

Our front office team members are all wearing face masks, and we ask that you also wear a face covering when you enter our office to protect yourself and our staff.

All dental team members are wearing PPE like face masks, glasses, face shields, and even additional coverings like gowns and foot and head coverings, when necessary. All PPE is properly sanitized or disposed of after treating each patient, ensuring a minimal risk of cross-contamination.

Operatory Sanitization & Cleaning Of Common Areas

We have always adhered to OSHA, ADA and CDC requirements and recommendations for cleaning and sanitizing patient operatories, tools, and surfaces between each patient. With our strict sanitization procedures, you can rest assured that you’ll get treatment in a clean, sanitary room.

In addition to this, our team members are also disinfecting and sanitizing common areas and frequently-touched surfaces including countertops, bathrooms, doorknobs, tables, and chairs. This helps reduce the spread of bacteria and viruses including COVID-19.
