You may be wondering if cosmetic dental treatments are painful. Or you may have had an uncomfortable experience at a dental office in the past or have dental anxiety.  Read on for answers to these questions.

Dr. Acree and his qualified team are skilled in gentle approaches to anesthetic when needed in all procedures including cosmetic procedures. Our goal for every treatment is for our patients to be comfortable and relaxed which includes your smile makeover. Read on to get more details, or contact us now to schedule your first cosmetic consultation in Modesto.

Many Cosmetic Treatments Are Completely Non-Invasive

First, there are lots of cosmetic dentistry treatments that are completely non-invasive and do not require any drilling or enamel removal. For example, teeth whitening and dental bonding both do not require any drilling or numbing shots. Tooth contouring (enameloplasty) also involves only a very small amount of enamel removal to reshape your teeth.

Even if you do opt for treatments like veneers and crowns, Dr. Acree will do his best to keep you comfortable throughout your treatment. As a conservative dentist, Dr. Acree will never remove more enamel than necessary. We use the latest numbing techniques to ensure a pain-free treatment experience.

We Offer Friendly Care And Dental Sedation For Your Comfort

We always encourage patients to be open with Dr. Acree and our team with any concerns or fears they may have. Together, we can take steps to help you feel more comfortable if you’re nervous about pain or discomfort during your treatment. For example, you can bring headphones and listen to your favorite music to stay comfortable. We also offer both nitrous oxide sedation and oral conscious sedation:

  • Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) sedation – In this type of minimal sedation, you’ll breathe a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a nose mask. You’ll feel more comfortable and less anxious during your procedure. Best of all, nitrous oxide takes only a few minutes to wear off, so you can drive yourself to and from your Downey Park Family Dentistry appointments.
  • Oral conscious sedation – With this type of sedation, you’ll take a prescription medication that will make you feel drowsy and groggy. You may even sleep through most of your procedure with Dr. Acree and his team. Since oral conscious sedation makes you sleepy, you will need someone to drive you to and from your appointments at our office in Modesto.

We can provide dental sedation during any cosmetic treatment that involves numbing. If you’re interested, you can discuss your options and get further details from Dr. Acree during your cosmetic consultation at Downey Park Family Dentistry.
